Family, Basketball & a Moment My Boys Won’t Forget

Today my boys and I went to spend some time with their Uncle Nass. We were just vibing, laughing, enjoying family time and making memories together. 🙏🏾❤️ Sometimes it’s the simple moments that mean the most. God is good.
After leaving their uncle, I took the boys over to Moody Park. Of course, when we see a basketball court, we have to get some runs in 😂🏀. We played two games, had some fun, and let the boys hoop.
After Moody Park, we headed over to Halo Farm to grab some juices and ice cream.
While we were waiting in line, a guy approached my sons while I was paying. I recognized him because I’ve seen him at basketball games all over Trenton — high school games, big games, and especially Cadwalader Park.
He asked my boys, “Is that y’all dad?”
They said, “Yeah.”
Then he pointed at me and told them, “He’s one of the best basketball players in the city.” 😂🏀
I looked up, we gave each other a fist bump, and he walked away.
My boys looked at me like, “Wait… are you really HIM?” 😂
I told them, “You heard him!”
On the ride home, I could tell they were starting to believe all those basketball stories I’ve been telling them. It’s funny because they hear it from their own dad and question it, but when random people recognize me and tell them how good I was, suddenly Dad might actually be telling the truth. 😂
But I explained something important to them:
My basketball glory days are over. Now it’s about THEM.
That’s why I stay on them about working hard, practicing, listening, and doing the extra things when nobody is watching. Sometimes they get mad or frustrated with me, but everything I do comes from believing in them.
I know what they’re capable of, and I want them to become even better than I ever was.
Today started with family, turned into basketball, and ended with a little reminder from the past.
But for me, the best part is watching their story begin. ❤️🏀
Family. Memories. Basketball. God is good. 🙏🏾
