| "Silence is the loudest sound."
Welcome to the world premiere web page (WWW.DEFFAMILIA.COM), where millions will feast their eyes on the most updated entertainment within the deaf community. All are welcome. In order to reach that dream, Def Familia knew that SMALL STEPS must be taken in order to reach the TOP. Thus DEF FAMILIA was born, and it is not just a party organization. DEF FAMILIA wants to put more exposure to the deaf community in all areas, such as music, sports, education, and helpful information.
There are many deaf, hard of hearing, CODA, and even hearing individuals that have TALENTS or needs, but are not HEARD. Hopefully, DEF FAMILIA can help them reach their goals and with HARD WORK sometime comes REWARDS.
IRONHEAD is going to try and make it brief so you can go on and check out what's on the site of DEF FAMILIA. We chose this name because we believe FAMILIA is the key to SUCCESS. However, let's introduce you to a very strong leader who has the drive and desire to make things happen for all of us. His name is De'Angelo, aka "IRONHEAD," and is the CEO and FOUNDER of this TEAM. IRONHEAD grew up in TRENTON, NJ, and in his childhood, he always had a vision that is still in front of his eyes today, which was to give back to the deaf community, as well as the hearing. He hopes that through small or large inspirations, this will push you to be whoever you can be as long as you have the love in your heart that drives you to be the BEST! His purpose with this website is to help bring all of us together and give positively in ALL areas. All support and love from all of our people will be greatly appreciated by IRONHEAD! Blessings to you and yours.
Why was the moneky chosen for the Deffamilia logo?
The Deffamilia logo was designed to represent the idea that to Deaf individuals, no matter how loud the sound is, silence will always be the loudest sound to us.
Back in the day, scientists would experiment on mice to test their reactions to different medicines. Well, the monkey, in a sense, represents the testing we, as Deaf individuals, have gone through. We know the audiologist can't truly measure what we "hear." We hear with our eyes, our nose, and our touch. The monkey represents us, sitting through test after test. It represents the hours of visits to the audiologist to determine "how deaf" we are, listening for that small sound that we can not hear. But only WE know that this test can not measure what we hear, or what we experience. No matter how loud the sound, we are still Deaf. Silence is the loudest sound to us.
Hearing people are always curious how the Deaf experience music and if they can appreciate it. As Deaf people, we can experience and appreciate music through our eyes and through our sense of touch. The hearing culture can learn a lot about Deaf people from their culture.
It is the goal of Deffamilia to bring these two cultures together to learn from each other. It is only when the two worlds come together that we can grow and appreciate all the things each culture has to offer.
